Polar Bear Day Activities
The 38th Olcott Polar Bear "Swim for Sight" is Sunday, March 2, 2008

Parking not a problem if you arrive early.

10:00 am - 4:00 pm Tailgate Party parking
11:00 am - 2:00 pm Swim registration
11:00 am - 4:00 pm Highland Games
1:45 pm Polar Bear Queen Contest:
Check in at the Lions Pavilion in the park
1:50 pm Swimmers under18
2:00 pm SWIM FOR SIGHT

Before and after the Swim, there’s MORE fun on Main Street...

Food & Drink
Look for hot food and beverages provided by these Lions organizations:

Registration Information

  • All swimmers must register prior to the swim.
    (minimum participation fee of $10 per swimmer)
  • Arrive early and submit registration and donations at the Lions Pavilion in the park.
  • Please make checks payable to:
    Olcott Lions Club, P.O. Box 316, Olcott, New York 14126
  • Workplace Sponsors – Employers and co-workers who sponsor swimmers are eligible for special workplace recognition.
  • Ask Your Employer – about matching the funds you raise.
    Tax-deductible 501(3) (C) certificates are available to corporate sponsors from the Lions Club International Foundation.
  • To save time during the registration process - print out our registration form and fill it out ahead of time.*
    *Please note: You still must register on-site, provide your contribution and receive your prize on the day of the swim at the Lions Pavilion in Olcott's Krull Park. Registration starts at 11:00 am.

Fundraising has its rewards

  • All swimmers receive a Polar Bear T-shirt.
  • Raise $50 and receive a Polar Bear Sweatshirt or special Sport T.
  • Raise $250 and receive a Polar Bear Jacket.
  • Raise over $500 to qualify for exciting gift certificates.

FUN means SAFETY
How’s your health? Water temps will be in the 30’s and the air and wind-chill can be colder.

In order to be a safe Polar Bear, everyone must:

  • Remain in designated safety areas
  • Wear sneakers or protective footwear
  • Obey safety officials

Swimmers’ checklist:

  • Sneakers
  • Blanket
  • Dry Clothes
  • Blanket
  • Helper*
  • Camera
  • Registration
  • Donation
 *Beach access will be limited. Only one helper with wrist band will be allowed to accompany each swimmer.

Directions

Olcott Beach is located on Lake Ontario, off Route 18 at Route 78 North. Less than an hour from Buffalo. Just over an hour from Rochester.

Handicapped parking is available on Ontario Street, above the beach.
